The Character

Character's Name: Charlotte Lovegood
Character's Gender: Female

Character's Appearance: Charlotte is an average height for a 15-year-old girl, being about 5'4". She has pale skin and blond hair that would be considered envious if she didn't have the hobby of pulling her hair into curly pigtails and strange braids or even if she cared to brush it on the days she didn't. She is sighted for having large dreamy, almost surprised looking eyes that almost seem to change colors. Unfortunately, glasses normally cover them. Hanging over her shoulders is her slightly tattered Ravenclaw robe of navy blue with tarnished brass buttons. Under that is, out of school uniform, typically a 60’s-ish green gogo dress, striped black and white stockings and a pair of muggle Army boots (originally confiscated from an unsuspecting man by her brother who was convinced they were rocket shoes) Although vaguely eccentric looking, she's typically not noticed among the other girls in the school.

Growing up in a strange household, she is often made fun of when she tries to be part of the crowd and partake in normal student social activities. She tends to carry herself very mousily and shyly and assumes the worst when approached socially. Years of teasing for being different, not helped by her older brother’s hobby of including her in his outlandish theories about everything from what Professor Dumbledore eats for breakfast to what plant-roots do underground, have taken their toll on Charlotte’s ego and she tends to keep her head lowered.

Character's History: Born to almost hippie-esque parents she learned to appreciate artsy things and music before studying. All of the freedom of the house, she believes, caused her brother to so openly believe in random theories that seemed to poke out from his daydreams. Accepted to Hogwarts because of her parents record there, she was quickly sorted into Ravenclaw, also like her parents.

At first she loved the idea but by the end of her first year, her excitement was distinguished by the persecution associated with being different around a large group of children. Instead of making friends with people she assumed hated her, she instead delved into books, making herself an honored student in the grades department. Although she can name almost any student in the school and observes them all, she isn’t considered a good friend of any of them and is most social at home, where she feels accepted.

Character's Personality: From an outside perspective Charlotte would seem to be quite the intellectual, with the grades she gets and time she spends studying. If confronted about it, she’ll laugh and dismiss her brother’s theories although secretly she is as much of a dreamer as he is and envies him for being so open and unembarrassed about his true self. Her interest in her schoolwork comes more from a fantasy-oriented fascination with magic and sparkly things than interest in getting good grades and a career.

She is most often ignored by other students, a blond mop, drawing furiously into a sketchbook that little do they know contains several drawings of the well-known boys and beautiful girls. If approached though, she reacts timidly and with lowered eyes but is a very kind person once it’s established the conversation-starter isn’t out to make fun of her. She has low self-esteem and wishes there was a group in school consisting of strange people like her. Trouble is, she doesn’t know just how different some of the other students are. . .
